Surface Area Dance Theatre - SAROS
Saros
24 April 10
Pilgrim Street Fire Station
Once again Surface Area Dance Theatre will respond to an unexplored arena
The disused fire station is a very intimate space, for SAROS the engine room will be the primary location. What remains unsaid is where the performance boundaries begin and end.
Existential themes such as FEAR, LOVE and DEATH are explored and made visible through constant interplay. Swooning pulses of partially imagined states lead to a thrilling pinnacle, the effects of which are unsettled.
SAROS will require closer examination, inevitably intertwining audience members and performers. A shifting of perspective will reveal the choreographers fascination with darkness, ritual and unveiled illusion.
Collaborating with SADT for the first time are Sheffield based band THE HUNTER GRACCHUS, fusing acoustic and electric sounds with little juxtaposition and much synergy, gliding with natural independence to movement.
Media artists Alex Lambert and Andrew Brewer, (Freshold and WhiskasFX) are collaborating for the first time since winning runners up prize at the Animex Awards. Expect spacious installations which are geographically complicated in design, depicting evolution through the abstraction of imagery.
The evening will continue with leading a live performance from Demdike Stare and DJ set from Mike McHugh (Road to Rimini).
A full bar will be available throughout the performance.
Please note that due to the performance space there are a limited number of EXQUISITE, INDIVIDUALLY DESIGNED TICKETS.
